HSENI launch a campaign for safe driving on construction sites as part of #DriveDangerOut.
Heyn Handling Solutions proudly stands behind the #DriveDangerOut initiative created by HSENI, aimed at enhancing driver safety within construction sites. This campaign seeks to alleviate accidents, which have the potential to inflict severe injuries or even fatalities. According to HSENI, over the past decade, Northern Ireland has witnessed eight fatalities directly attributed to vehicle mishaps on construction sites, along with numerous injuries.
HSENI emphasises that these incidents are preventable through heightened vigilance among drivers and construction personnel, coupled with diligent vehicle maintenance and careful consideration of site layout. To facilitate broader awareness and encourage proactive safety measures, three pivotal messages have been published:
1. Safe Site
Are pedestrians and vehicles adequately segregated?
Are there suitable designated traffic routes for vehicles to operate safely?
2. Safe Vehicle
Are measures in place to ensure vehicle all-round visibility?
Are procedures in place to carry out pre-use checks and report defects?
Have statutory examinations been completed for vehicles used for lifting?
3. Safe Driver
Do drivers hold adequate licenses/training certificates for the vehicles they are authorised to drive?
Is there a programme of driver refresher training in place?
