Basic Working at Height Training

Working at height comes with many risks,  our instructors all have experience of working at height and as members of the Work at Height Safety Association and the BSIF continually strive to improve course content and work closely with the industry to ensure needs are met. 

The Basic Working at Height training course aims to ensure trainees are aware of the legal and best practice requirements when using fall protection equipment and are aware of their responsibilities. Trainees will be equipped with a base theoretical knowledge to effectively identify hazards associated with working at height and an understanding of ways to reduce the risks.

On completion of this course, trainees should be able to:
  • Understand the effects of gravity and its consequences
  • Gain an understanding of the legislation and guidance with regards to working at height and fall protection equipment
  • Recognise the  main hazards and risks in connection to work at height
  • Understand the need for a rescue plan
  • Identify appropriate anchorage points
  • Preform a pre-use inspection of work at height equipment
  • Correctly don a harness
  • Correctly set up, use and return to storage a horizontal lifeline system

Trainees will be issued with a certificate and photo ID card which shows they are competent working at height which is valid for 3 years.
